The results are in! While the response wasn’t as large as we had hoped, we did receive almost 59% returns. This helps the Board to focus on what is important to the residents and act accordingly.
Years in Residence

The Independence Valley Subdivision has been in existence for over 30 years! Many of the residents have lived here for much of that time, although we have had several new residents over the last few years.
Important Issues

As expected, the condition of the community’s road was the most important issue. The Board has been working on that issue and will be holding a meeting later this year with updates and next steps.
With crime on the rise safety is an important issue. The Board has asked Charles Baxter, former police officer and Physical Security Expert, to implement a Neighborhood Watch program. Signs have been posted in the community and alerts are posted on the website.
The HOA Board is comprised of volunteers. As such, it is sometimes difficult for the Board to communicate effectively with residents. To improve communications there is a new IVSA website which will be consistently updated to keep residents informed and provide access to resources, including a calendar of events. There is also a Residents Portal where all governing documents, the Residents Directory, minutes, etc. will be stored. For security reasons, this is restricted access area only accessible to IVSA residents who are registered. Go to https://ivsaclarkston.com/register/ to gain access.
Keeping expenses low is directly related to volunteers. The more residents that volunteer for serving on the board, working on committees and/or projects, the less outside resources must be hired!
HOA Meetings

The majority of respondents voted in favor of annual meetings. Going forward HOA meetings will be held annually. There will also be meetings called to address special issues like the roads. To combat poor attendance the Board is looking into making all meetings virtual too. Notices will be sent out if the meeting will be available virtually.
